It all started with a swan song…
in a small apartment in Antwerp, Belgium, in 2010.
I had some wood panels in my hall that were bought to make a closet, but the carpenter disappeared without completing the task.
After a rather lengthy period of stumbling over it every time I came through the door, I figured I could try to make something to put on my wall.
With only wall paint and clunky wall brushes I made my first painting with black, white and fuchsia paint that I named ‘Swan Song’ .

First painting ‘Swan Song’ 2010
This experience started a love story with painting that I am deeply grateful for.
To explore creative power and enter into that flow-state while watching the stories unfold on canvas is a source of immeasurable joy.
The journey through new discovery is never-ending.
This time I added paper collage from magazines. It was painted and glued onto a cork board that I had laying around.
The level of painting was as rudimentary as is visible in the image, but that is precisely what makes it a strong piece.
It really doesn’t matter what medium is used to create powerful expression.
I never learnt to draw in order to paint,
I fell in love with painting
and then I learnt to draw.
